What Do You Say About Yourself?

Hi My Beautiful, Brave, Bolder Sisters!

I sure hope you’ve been allowing your light to shine. Don’t forget, tapping into and sharing your God-given talent is your birthright.

A few weeks ago one of my dearest girlfriends invited me to speak during an arts and artists’ luncheon hosted by her local chapter of Delta Sigma Theta. I was honored that she considered me.

As I prepared, I went through the usual limiting beliefs I sometimes still experience, but I refused to succumb to the fear. I spoke confidently, just as I had practiced. I gave myself the pep talk that has been getting me through pretty much everything. And I showed up and gave it my all.

I have to constantly remind myself that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. He didn’t pour these gifts into me to just have them sit and rot.

He made me special. So I have to be mindful of what I say and how I talk about myself. I can no longer say “I can’t” or “I think I might” or even “I’m not…” Those phrases no longer work with how I’m beginning to see myself. I have to watch how I talk about myself.

Just the other day I received an invite from someone in my circle who confidently called themselves an expert and #1 in their field. My first thought was one of envy, unfortunately, as I thought how bold of a statement it was. But if that person doesn’t believe in who they are, why would anyone else? So instead of my being envious of their confidence, I decided to be courageous with my own.

I have to be bold and loving in how I talk about myself. I believe in my gifts, so it has to be reflected in my self-talk. So here it goes.

“I am a highly sought after and respected relationship expert and author, skilled and motivated in helping couples achieve love success.”

Yes! That feels good and it’s true!

Bolder Sisters, how do you talk about yourself? Is there a big bold statement you’d like to declare? Use the comment section below to share who you are and what you bring.
