Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love food. I’ll work for food, heck I might even fight for food. I don’t like to share it and I absolutely enjoy the aroma, the taste, the spices and the sauces. Yes, food is my friend, my very, very, very good friend. So imagine my excitement when I received an invite to attend a special new menu tasting event for the Grand Lux Cafe in Chicago.
Y’all know I’m getting my Shonda Rhimes on this year by saying “yes” to new and exciting more often. I gladly said yes. I’m working on coming from behind my laptop more often. It’s hard at times because it’s so comfy and safe there, but I know it’s good for me, and for you too sisters, to get uncomfortable occasionally.
Again, so glad I did! Not only did I connect with a few other fabulous bolder sisters and bloggers, I enjoyed being wined and dined.
The Grand Lux Cafe’s new menu items are mouthwatering and delightful. I started off with a cocktail that met me coming in the door, the Grand Manhattan. It was strong but good. Then I followed that up by tasting the blood orange Mimosa, which quickly became my new fave.
Now the food, the food “oh my goodness” is what my mouth and eyes kept saying all night. Grand Lux, I quickly noticed, had a little boldness of their own with these new menu items. Here’s a list of some of what I tried, and believe me, you should too. My absolute favorites were:
- Pastrami Deli Tots (the look of a tater tot, but nothing tater about this tot, it’s pastrami baby)
- Pastrami Reuben egg rolls. Delicious.
- Asian nachos. Delicious.
- Fuji Apple Salad. Amazing.
- Korean Sriracha, Salmon & Pastrami Burgers were all a hit.
- Wood Grilled Salmon. My oh my!
- Bourbon Street Chicken. Delicious.
- New Orleans Beignets. (Served warm) Don’t even get me started on how delightfully delicious these were. I’m still thinking about them.
Sisters, I’m so happy to have said yes to this special invite and not just for the food. I’m stretching and growing and continuing to make even more meaningful connections. Don’t forget to say “yes” to the new and exciting more often.
Bolder Sisters, next time you’re being bold and asking out that sexy brother you’ve been checking out, invite him to the Grand Lux. Or next time you’re kicking it with other Bolder Sisters like you, suggest a meet up at the Grand Lux Cafe. Their new menu items will surely leave your mouth watering for more.
