Chicago Ideas Week 2017 Inspires Bold and Positive Conversations

One thing I pride myself on is my ability to come up with ideas. In fact, if you were to rummage through my work bag or purse, you’re bound to find a small notebook or journal of some sort, filled with ideas. They range from the well thought out, to those random ones that make absolutely no sense to anyone else but me. The truth is, one of the benefits of being bolder sisters is recognizing the power in our voices and the strength of our ideas.

Personally, I have always been a big ideas person, especially when it comes to creating solutions that make an impact on the world. This is one reason I am so excited about this year’s Chicago Ideas Week and my conversation with Sona Jones, the Director of Media & Marketing.

This year marks the 7th annual Chicago Ideas Week and it runs from October 16th through October 22nd. If you didn’t know, it is the largest, affordable ideas festival in the world.

According to Sona, the mission is to bring a broad spectrum of speakers and an audience that matches.  It was created to spark positive change and bring a diverse audience together to engage in conversations about what’s possible.

Chicago Ideas Week will feature over 150 labs (hands on experiences) across the city, talks with professional experts and conversation stations with relevant and newsworthy topics. Sona believes that big ideas (and conversations like the ones highlighted during the week) are something everyone should have access to, which is why tickets are just $15.

For Sona, Chicago Ideas Week feels like science and art mixed. The topics featured are the result of a huge brainstorm, ensuring discussions are relevant and able to guide the audience through a wide variety of ideas. A few conversations that speak to me personally include Love and Friendship: This is How We Do It Now, and Innovating from Within: When the Entrepreneurial Spirit Never Stops  to name a few.

Sona hopes Chicago Ideas Week will inspire change makers to take action. Bolder Sisters, we are definitely those change makers. If you’re in Chicago and looking for inspiration and the types of conversations that spark action, Chicago Ideas Week is the perfect event for you.

I hope to see you there!

Until next time Bolder Sisters, remember our voices, thoughts and ideas matter. Speak up and share them with the world.
